Ruddick Corporation Announces A&E Completes the Acquisition of Robison-Anton Textile Co.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- /PR Newswire-First Call/ -- Ruddick Corporation announced that its sewing thread subsidiary, American & Efird, Inc. (A&E), completed the acquisition of certain assets of the thread and yarn business of Robison-Anton Textile Co. and certain of its affiliated companies (Robison-Anton). Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Robison-Anton, with sales of approximately $24 million in fiscal 2005, has been manufacturing quality embroidery thread and yarn since 1959. Robison- Anton employs 223 employees and has manufacturing and distribution facilities in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, as well as a service center in Los Angeles. A&E plans to operate Robison-Anton as a separate division called “Robison- Anton Textile Company,” which will be focused on expanding the embroidery thread business both in the U.S. and throughout the world.

A&E is a leading manufacturer and distributor of sewing thread for worldwide industrial and consumer markets, with sales of $296 million in fiscal 2004. This acquisition will further diversify A&E’s product line offerings into more non-apparel thread markets.

 

Wayne Industries Group hires Central American Representation

 

Philadelphia, PA - October 19, 2005 - Wayne Industries Group, (Wayne Mills Co., Inc. and Franklin Braid Mfg. Co., Inc.) announced today that they have hired Tony Medina and Thread & Trim Suppliers to represent them in Honduras, El Salvador, and Nicaragua.

Tony Medina’s background in the textile industry adds important perspective and knowledge to our corporation, said Franklin Milnes, President. “I am confident his experience will help us further expand into the Central American market ”.

 

We will now have the advantage to warehouse goods for our customers who are doing their manufacturing in those areas. 

 

Wayne Mills in business since 1910, manufactures woven tapes, bindings, and light webbings. They also have the ability to apply pressure sensitive and heat activated adhesives to products as well as laminate safety reflectives. They have their own dye house and can do contract dyeing.

 

Franklin Braid in business since 1950, manufactures braids, cords and knit elastics. They have the ability to do tipped lengths, hot cut lengths, and do assembly work. Working with Wayne Mills’ dye house they can also do dyed to match cords.

 

Llovet Sales Company

For over 50 years now Llovet Sales has been distributing and selling products to the apparel and industrial industries. Some of you have personally visited our facility in Madison, Tennessee but many of you had not had the opportunity to see our place.

Our facility in Madison includes 25,000 square feet of office and warehouse space. We inventory interlining, buttons, backings and Robison-Anton embroidery thread. Llovet carries an array of other products that help support these industries. Some of those include: tearaway and cutaway backings, retail pre-package stabilizers and interfacing, bobbin cases, bobbin threads, organ brand needles, thread display racks, hand trimmers, scissors, Peggy´s stitch eraser, machine oil and Durkee embroidery hoops.

We have complete facilities to offer slitting, die cutting, knife cutting, slotted tapes along with a very professional button dye shop.
