Honduras has become Central America’s apparel production center
due to the many advantages it offers. Today, it is the third largest worldwide
clothing supplier to the U.S. market, and number one in the region and the
Caribbean.
It has further strengthened its position by implementing the Full Package
concept, whereby items are manufactured in their entirety in the country, from
the cloth, to the buttons, and packaging under international brand names. Along
these lines, this sector offers business opportunities to efficient suppliers,

Republic, Mexico, Japan and Australia. Free-trade negotiations are currently
underway with the European Union.

Incentives
Honduras is governed by a democratic system with solid
institutions, a transparent legal system, and political and social stability
since 1980 and has implemented laws that protect and promote foreign investment
provide export-oriented companies fiscal and legal incentives highly favorable
to investment. Honduran law offers permanent tax exemption in several
categories. Any part of Honduras can be an Industrial Processing Zone/Free Zone
where companies are exempt of all taxes

Over the past 25 years, successive democratic governments have created a
pro-business environment that both promotes and protects productive private
investment.
Establishing a
business in Honduras
The procedures required to register
an investment in Honduras have been greatly simplified. In the past year alone
the time required has been reduced to 42 days, twenty fewer than those indicated
in the World Bank’s annual Doing Business report. This major improvement is the
result of the reform and administrative simplification process managed by
"Honduras Compite" as part of the National Competitiveness Program.
Another
improvement is the full digitalization of the country’s property registry which
greatly facilitates the purchase and sale of land.
Administrative Simplification Law
The objective of the Law is to establish a process
to simplify or reduce administrative procedures with the purpose of guaranteeing
that State entities act in accordance with the requirements of the economy –
speed, efficiency, and a spirit of service, to satisfy the needs of all
interested parties.

with an extension area of 112,492 Kms. Approximately, 1,000 miles southeast of
the United States, 2 hours by plane and 2 to 4 days by ship from any main
southern port entry of the United States.
More than 300
companies have established operations in Honduras in the last few years,
particularly in the areas of apparel manufacturing, textiles, harnesses and
electronic parts, agro industry and tourism. Honduras is one of the main
suppliers of apparel products to the United States: it is number one within the
Caribbean and Central American region, and third in the world. It is also the
second largest supplier of electric harnesses to the US market.
